f11 Photography Magazine | February 2019
31st January 2019
Seven years ago, in February 2012, we went live with the very first Chasing the Light Magazine. It’s now the f11 Photography Magazine, and we’re going Live with our 85th edition. How did that happen? And now all 85 issues are online and available exclusively for you, our loyal f11 Members. Don’t forget the “search f11” button at the top of every web page helps you make the most of your f11 Membership by using keywords to find the articles or videos you need.
This month we have for you the second instalments of both “Behind the Lens” and the Video Blog from the tropical island of Réunion. And, just in case you f11s think it always comes together just as I plan there’s a feature on my attempted shoot of the lunar eclipse “The One That Got Away” which lies that misconception to rest. “What’s In a Picture” this month? The historic harbour of Dartmouth, with an associated “Wendy’s Wanderings” from Devon. And as ever there are my two post-production videos from related shoots taking you step by step through the editing process.
Meanwhile the Spotlight is on Katie Simmonds, an f11 Member on a mission to show the gritty but human side of Africa. Guest Columnist Tracey Calder wonders what lessons from the 1980s she can apply to her current photography, and in our Guest Interview Phil Bebbington discusses his fascination with the back roads of America. And as always there are your images in the Members' Gallery, with constructive appraisal from myself.
If you’re a new f11; welcome aboard. If you’ve been here since 2012; thanks for your support. Don’t forget, this is your magazine, so please keep in touch. And to all of you...
