Photography spanning the globe to inspire and inform
A very warm welcome to our sample edition of The f11 Photography Magazine. If you enjoy this, then why not join us? Sign up to become an f11 Member and you will receive exclusive access to a monthly edition of the magazine plus the entire catalogue of back issues, as well as free ebook downloads and other exclusive offers.
David Noton kicks off this edition with a feature from his popular Behind the Lens column, offering the first installment of his two-part travelogue to Western Australia in 2015. Then in a Video Blog, we join him on his trip to Italy in the early summer months of 2016. And for this edition’s Stepping Back, David time-travels back to his trip to the Great Wall of China at Simatai in 1998.
Photo Essentials is a series from the magazine designed to refresh basic photo skills, and in this edition David begins his detailed exploration of camera settings. In a Field Trial, he visits Paris to evaluate the new Canon EOS 1Dx Mk II then in a Low Down he turns his attention to the photographic inspiration to be found in colour. In addition, we’ve included one of David’s popular Fundamentals of Post-Production Videos.
From our contributors, in The Pipeline Ben Pipe takes us on a fascinating tour of the 2015 French Open at the Roland Garros stadia. In the Art of Landscapes we accompany Bas Meelker to the Bavarian Forest in winter. Meanwhile Ross Hoddinott revisits the wonderful island of Skomer, photographing this wildlife location’s main attraction: the colourful, comical-looking puffins.
Finally, for our Guest Feature we’re delighted to present a piece penned by professional photographer David Köster, as he provides a privileged insight into his exciting journey through Kazakhstan, accompanied by a breath-taking portfolio of his images. And to finish off, we’ve included a sample edition of our Member’s Gallery, where f11 Members have the opportunity to submit images for David's constructive appraisal.
We very much look forwards to welcoming you on board – in the meantime, keep exposing!
