f11 Photography Magazine | April 2013
1st April 2013
Issue 15
Welcome to the April edition of our Chasing the Light Magazine. We’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our readers a very happy Easter break; hopefully you’ve managed to get out with your cameras at some point!
In this month’s edition, David continues his brand new series Seeing the Light with a fascinating exploration of daylight, which all begins on the lawn of the White House! He also provides his regular essential Compositional Tutorial: this time exploring the importance of the Decisive Moment to ensure that you’re fully prepared for that perfect window of opportunity, when all the elements of a composition come together.
For Behind the Lens, we join David for the final leg of his trip to Myanmar (Burma) as he travels to Inle Lake, working on and around the lake with various endearing Burmese models. And for Stepping Back, David revisits the momentous switch to digital whilst shooting the stunning vistas of the Northumbrian coastline.
Wildlife photographer Ben Hall pens the Guest Feature, revealing the long hours of patience and skill required to capture his beautiful animal portraits. And this month we have a particular treat in store in the form of two instructional videos from David, one on colour balance and the other, the first in the series, on Photoshop techniques.
In addition we have the Member’s Gallery, with constructive comments from David on a member’s work. To all our f11 Members, we hope you’re enjoying the ride, but we need your pictures. If you fancy being featured in the Member’s gallery send us an email with three low-res jpegs and the story from behind the lens. We’ll look forward to hearing from you.
And for those of you not yet an f11 member, take a look at the benefits of f11 membership here. By joining, you’ll receive full access to the monthly edition of our eZine, as well as other goodies.
