f11 Photography Magazine | October 2018
1st October 2018
Welcome to our October issue, which is full of the fruits of the last couple of months, not least my Behind the Lens piece; “The Border Runs Through It”. Which border? The one in the news! And in tandem with that my post-production videos this edition take you through step-by-step the piecing together of the giant panorama from that shoot in South Armagh. Also in the news is the release of both Canon and Nikon’s new mirrorless camera systems, the significance of which I reflect on from Photokina in my Opinion article “Capturing the Future”, while this month’s Field Trial objectively evaluates the new Canon EOS R.
Meanwhile Wendy Noton, as a result of an f11 Member’s suggestion, recalls some of her favourite images and memories from a lifetime of our travels. I’m reflective too as I step back to Edale in September 1985, and pay tribute to a special friend. Our Guest Interview is with Zambian native wildlife photographer Patrick Bentley, while f11 regular Ross Hoddinott celebrates the joy of ditching the tripod. And then there are your images with your further successes in the f11 Your Vision Competition 2018 featured in a special Member’s Gallery.
And finally; get in touch! We love to hear from you and can guarantee we will act on all reasonable suggestions for what you’d like to see in future editions. And if you’re continuing to enjoy the fruits of your f11 membership do spread the word.
