f11 Photography Magazine | August 2018
1st August 2018
In our August 2018 edition, we have two pieces from our recent journeys to Peneda-Gerês National Park and the Douro Valley in northern Portugal: Behind the Lens, Part Two with an accompanying Video Blog. Maybe my How It’s Done feature in this issue should really be called How It’s Not Done, as I identify the common processing faults I see all too often when judging competitions. On that subject, my post-production videos consider the use of RGB tone curve adjustments in response to an f11 member’s request.
Spotlight returns this month to highlight nature-loving member Ginny Scholes, her life afloat, and her photography. If you’re a member with an interesting story and a cohesive set of pictures, we’d like to hear from you – the spotlight may be turned on you, too.
What’s In A Picture this month is Chateau de Peyrepertuse, a castle in a dramatic setting in a region steeped in history. Meanwhile, Bas Meelker reports from Tuscany, while our August Guest Feature is on Brighton-based Finn Hopson, who has developed a successful photography gallery on the lively city’s seafront. And as there’s no Members’ Gallery this month because of the Your Vision Competition, we’ve a Stepping Back from the Jungfrau in Switzerland.
Please do not be reticent in sending in your suggestions about what you’d like to see in future editions of f11. We will act on them all. And by the way, work on uploading all the back issues steadily continues – every month, a few more go up. As an f11 member, you have unlimited access to all of them, and their worth as an information resource is enhanced with the search facility you’ll find at the top of every web page – all of which makes your f11 membership more and more valuable with every edition. If you’re in agreement with this, do spread the word with the occasional share, comment or post.
