In this month’s installment of Seeing the Light, David considers backlighting – when this tricky little number does and doesn’t work. Meanwhile, the Field Trial presents David’s findings from a month spent in the Yukon with a highly anticipated new release, the Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x Lens. Again this month David has created three videos: the first is the next installment of our How It’s Done series, this time on using Live View to achieve accurate focus; then there are two more practical tutorials on post-production.
In Stepping Back, David relives the stopover in Alice Springs that ended in days of being stuck there in the rain –it all turned good in the end. And in this month’s edition of The Bizz, David concludes his two-part series entitled Head in the Cloud by considering the pros and cons of the digital age for today’s photographer. In addition we have the Member’s Gallery, with constructive comments from David on a member’s work.
For this month’s Guest Feature we welcome on board David Waterman, as he describes his enduring passion for photography. From his first published images shot as he landed with his parachute regiment at El Gamil, through an illustrious career in press photography and skydiving as part of Team GB, then onto his years spent mentoring photography students – including a certain Mr David Noton – photography has always been in his blood and his story makes a fascinating read.
