f11 Photography Magazine | November 2013
1st November 2013
This month we have a special treat in store for readers: David takes us to the Yukon, reliving in this month’s Behind the Lens article the first six days of the special trip he and Wendy made to this location in September; there is also an accompanying Video Blog for your viewing pleasure.
To tie up this Yukon special, in How it’s Done David talks us through his approach to and method of shooting the stunning Aurora Borealis at Pine Lake.
In the Seeing the Light series, David considers those few occasions when it is worth the landscape photographer forgoing a sneaky siesta to capture a toplit shot. And in for Stepping Back, he whizzes us back to 1984 when he shot the Marines as part of his photography course with stunning results.
From other contributors PR specialist Susie Hallam provides a useful introduction to the Big Four of social media – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ – to explain how these can assist your photography in this month’s installment of The Bizz. And for our Guest Feature we are thrilled to welcome on board experienced adventure photographer Marcin Jamkowski, as he explains how his interest in science lead to a career photographing expeditions of discovery around the world. In addition we have the Member’s Gallery, with constructive comments from David on a member’s work.
If you haven't already heard, September saw the launch of our brand new competition entitled Your Vision, and the lucky winner will receive a day's one-to-one tuition with David. For full details and information on how to enter, please visit f11 Members' Your Vision Competition. Please spread the word, and we'll very much look forwards to receiving your entries.
To all our f11 Members, we hope you’re enjoying our ezine, but we need your pictures. If you fancy being featured in the Member’s gallery send us an email with three low-res jpegs and the story from behind the lens. We’ll look forward to hearing from you. And for those of you not yet an f11 member, take a look at the benefits of f11 membership. By joining, you’ll receive full access to the monthly edition of our magazine, as well as other goodies.
