Focus on Foreground
One of the most popular ways of creating a dynamic landscape composition is to use foreground detail. But for all this popularity, the technique is not always done very well, as Ross Hoddinott discovers.
As a fresh-faced teenager with aspirations of becoming a professional photographer, two British landscape photographers inspired me more than any others. One was Joe Cornish, the other was a certain Mr D Noton (I hope that doesn’t make you feel old, David?) Why their images, above others? It was mostly down to their intuitive use of light and understanding and perception of the landscape.
