In the UK, summer is here! But it’s over all too quickly, so now is the time to get out there with your camera and shoot some great images that sum up this warmest of seasons.

The long hot days of July, with the sounds of tennis ball, combine harvesters and the clink of cream teas being served – it’s heady stuff! What we wait all year for, isn’t it? But summer is actually a difficult season to portray in a photograph, compared with the freshness of spring or the colours of autumn. But it’s our destiny, as landscape photographers, to portray the seasons, so here then are a few pointers for your own forays into the ‘fields of gold’ that are waiting to be photographically harvested all around us.
