Storm Chaser

Chasing the light, and being chased by the darkness of an oncoming storm, are one and the same for a storm chase photographer. The challenge of reading the forecast and predicting a storm’s progress, the thrill of the hunt, and the unpredictability of the visual opportunities, all make for a stimulating subject to shoot. But that’s only about 5 per cent of the chase; the rest is the work it takes to find that perfect storm.

An international engineering career with Fiat originally brought me to the USA from the UK. And yup, as part of this move I got to design combine harvesters in Chicago! It was during this period that digital photography started to become really popular, so stepping from AutoCAD to Photoshop was a natural progression for me. I then decided to quit the 9-to-5 job to study photography full time.
