Hoddinott's Hangout

The Galapagos

I have a very understanding wife. Let’s face it, not all women would happily allow their husbands to travel all the way to South America in order to photograph boobies! Now, get your mind out the gutter; obviously I’m not talking about those types of boobies! Instead I was hoping, amongst other things, to photograph blue-footed, red-footed and Nazca boobies – types of long-winged marine birds.

I’ve always had a passion for wildlife and although I’m not a big traveller like David and Wendy, there is one place in particular that I’ve wanted to visit ever since childhood. The Galapagos Islands are located 600 miles west of continental Ecuador. They are an archipelago of volcanic islands, distributed either side of the Equator, and are famed for their extraordinary natural history.
