The Low Down

DIY Printing, Part Four

In the end it was a huge disappointment. When I had first seen the posters on the Metro advertising the exhibition I was excited: Henri Cartier-Bresson, in Paris no less! Granted he wasn't quite the idol to me that he had been in my student days – I now prefer the likes of Robert Doisneau and Brassai from that era – but still, a retrospective of a lifetime's work by the architect of the Decisive Moment demanded respect and another appraisal, so we headed for the venue after a suitably fulsome lunch, ready to be inspired. We were having a fabulous few spring days in the City of Light and this would be the icing on the cake.
