Issue 41 - June 2015

VDL: My name is Valeriano Della Longa and I’m based in Rome, Italy. Since I’ve bought my first David Noton’s book "Waiting for the Light”, I’ve started to really enjoy the panoramic format. I never owned a panoramic format camera, nor I’m planning to get one soon (low budget). Thus I have to rely on stitching tighter more digital photos later in post-production. Good results are not that easy to achieve, indeed I've got more failures than successes in these years. One trick that I learnt from another photographer is to shoot the composition a bit wider, and vertically compose the single shots to later stitch together (that's for horizontal panoramas, while for vertical panoramas I compose horizontally the single shots). In this way I’ll end up with a final stitched panorama very high in resolution and wide enough to allow cropping as I like more.
