Behind the Lens
Wester Ross, Part 2
17th May 2017
From high on the road to Diabaig, I’m shooting the dappled light on the Torridon mountains. A bird soars through my frame and the shutter clicks, transporting me back to a similar time in the Andes earlier in the year. Then, as now, the tiny shape of a bird in the sky lifted the distant mountain scene immeasurably. On the camera’s back, the capture looks as flat as a pancake, but I’m confident that later, in Lightroom, I’ll be able to tease out the impact of the moment through careful adjustment of black points and white points.
