Stepping Back

Stepping Back

Why do We Do It?

David Noton is in a reflective mood on a hilltop at dusk.

The fog has lingered all day in the valley over the hill. Now at mid-afternoon on a winter afternoon the low sun lacks the power to burn it off any further; it’ll be there until the sun sets, and probably until the morrow now. A shoot is a given then, but where to head? The Beacon; it’s the highest point around here. It’s also a location I have used many, many times before, but never in these conditions. Mist at dusk is, in my experience, fairly rare. I don’t believe I have ever photographed it shrouding here, my home patch.
